All meats and sauces are GF. Sides are gf - potato salad, slaw, beans. The only things I could not eat were mac and cheese , a few desserts, and the bread and buns. They even had a gf dessert option- blueberry crisp. They prepare your food on separate table away from the bread. The food was delicious! They are highly aware of cross contamination. No gf menu, but it says outside on the door- gluten free food, so it’s mostly gf there ! No fryers! Nothing fried!!!

the food items here are almost entirely gluten free - just let them know when you order and they will take care of you. one of the owners is gluten free and they take precautions to avoid cross contamination. the food is VERY good. if you go when they have turkey ribs as the special then get them! they are very good and have one multiple awards at the taste of Marietta food festival. they also try to always have one gluten free dessert available.

The family that owns this restaurant is gluten free, so they understand what that means. If you tell them you’re GF, they will substitute GF bread for any regular bread. Their Barbecue sauce is gluten free and several GF options in sides as well. And they usually have a homemade GF dessert. We eat here all the time and really enjoy it.

Staff was knowledgable, very helpful, and friendly. Items are not marked gf on the menu board but all meats and bbq sauce and most sides are gf, and they offer gf desserts every day. Other reviews say they have gf bread but the staff did not mention/offer it to us when going over gf items. We had high hopes after reading many glowing reviews, but the food was mediocre at best. The chopped brisket (more like chunks) came out already bathed in sauce (not expecting that and wouldn’t have chosen it if given the option), and spouse who is not gf had a pulled pork sandwich that was just okay. Tried 3 different sides that were either average or not good. Menu is overpriced for the amount and quality of food provided. The biggest disappointment was buying gf desserts at the end of the meal and finding out after paying for them that they contain nuts I can’t eat. We love good bbq and certainly expected a better meal but unfortunately we wouldn’t eat here again.

Unbelievable experience! We hardly ever eat local because I am so sensitive to gluten, dairy, and soy. Took a chance on Big Shanty and it was delicious! The owner talked with me through ingredients and was herself gluten free so she knew exactly what she was talking about. So blown away by such a delicious meal!

Amazing staff, super knowledgeable, EVEN HAVE GF DESSERTS, y’all!!!! Whole menu is GF except regular bread and buns, have GF bread also, Banana pudding is the only other thing not GF except on days with Mac and cheese. WOW!!

One of the beat bbq places I have eaten. The staff all seem to be knowledgeable about gluten cross contamination. Have never gotten sick after eating here.

When we eat here everyone is happy. My son is a bit of a picky eater and doesn't care for bbq but they make the best gf grilled cheese we have ever had! Hubby and I love the turkey ribs. Everything here is great!

This is by far our favorite place to eat! One of the owners is a Celiac so almost everything is GF. They have bread, desserts but they're BBQ is killer! My hubby loves their brisket and says it's the closest thing around here he can find to the real stuff in Texas. The turkey ribs and then lemon blueberry crumble dessert are my favorites but even their sides are delicious!

The food was good including gf bread made on site. All but two items on the menu were gluten free and I didn't have to train the staff on safe handling of my food! It is amazing to feel that level of safety at a roadside bbq joint.

Service was awesome. Food was even better! They had gluten free bread along side my meal and even GF apple crisp for desert! (Which, by the way, was to die for!!!). We will, for sure, be going back!!!

All meats, rubs, sauces, and all but one of the sides are gluten free. They even have gluten free bread and dessert. Tell them you are gluten free and they will assemble your plate in a location well away from the regular bread storage. I thought the ribs and brisket were great! As were the baked beans and collards. Not so much a fan of the pulled pork, but I grew up eating Lexington, NC pork BBQ.

The bbq was amazing and I had the most delicious piece of strawberry pound cake. I will definitely be coming back.

The ribs were the best part. The pulled pork left a lot to be desired. The (white meat)chicken was over cooked and dry with NO flavor to the skin. The kicker was that we selected this place because of the gluten free bread...which I don't even get to eat because 'we're currently out and it will be out of the Oven in around 30 minutes'....how does this happen at 1245pm when there are only 2 other cars in the parking lot? Weak.

Really great restaurant! Delightful rustic atmosphere, friendly staff and dining in the dining room, out on the enclosed porch, al fresco or carry-out. The smoked beans are a must-have. Homemade sides and desserts are great! They are very gluten-free knowledge (family member has CD). We go here often.

They are so friendly here! I never write reviews but I'm very impressed. Since "CD" Been so long since I had cheese cake and the flavor is awesome plus it was a bonus since I don't eat pork that they offered other options than just chicken, my turkey ribs are amazing! My new fav!

Had lunch today. Beef brisket on GF bread. Yummy!! Also had GF berry cobbler!! It was so good to eat cobbler again.

The owners wife has celiac disease so its very trustworthy. They have daily gluten free bread!
