We went there today for a late lunch. Impressive selection of GF options. Service wasn't great. But so delicious.

So many GF options! You can’t get the things you’d expect - udon noodles or potstickers - but they have GF sesame chicken and many others. I asked them to label everything and they did. My child is somewhat asymptomatic but she seems like there was no cross contamination.

We ordered sweet & sour chicken at first. When the food came to the table I got suspicious, because the chicken was coated with something. So I asked and I was glad, I did, because our first dish was not glutenfree. The waiter asked the other lady that worked there and she told him something. He took our dishes and asked, if vegetable chicken would be fine. We were ok with that and this time it was glutenfree. It looks like it depends on which server you’re getting. Not everyone in this restaurant seems to be knowledgeable.

Everything I’ve ordered from Chen Garden has been good so far. Their pad Thai and fresh shrimp rolls are my favorite.

I had lunch here to check the restaurant out. At lunch only the egg drop soup is GF, although the menu says other soups can be GF (probably the full dinner order). I had Singapore noodles, which were very tasty. The lunch fried rice was also not GF, so it came with steamed rice. Many dishes say they can be made GF, so I will probably go back for dinner to check out other dishes.
We did go back for dinner and I had chicken fried rice and also shredded vegetables with chicken, both GF. Food was very good and did not get sick. Hubby had General Tso’s chicken (not GF) which he also liked. Will be going back to try more dishes! It’s a very busy place so go early or make a reservation.
Yes
Menu had different colors for what was GF and what wasn’t. Pretty sure they used separate grills and what not for cooking but would have to check. Even had GF soy sauce. Good was so good with tons of options even for vegetarians!
Celiac friendly! Separate pans, new oil, GF sauces, and they stir fry (not deep fry) to avoid cross contamination. Menu clearly indicates what can and cannot be made GF. Some employees are not strong English speakers but they quickly get backup if they need help understanding your specific requests. Takeout is also super easy! Once you give them your phone number the first time, they make notes and remember your preferences (i.e. gluten free) for next time!

absolutely love the salt and pepper squid!! as per previous remark restaurant was closed for a few days and opened back up quickly!!! very careful lot of gf options
So... this place was closed down for rodent infestation. 😩I wanted to leave 4 stars but then that happened.
Delicious. Can't wait to go back, first time having General Tso's chicken in 7 years and it was amazing!
I asked the server if they were careful with gluten free orders. He said yes without hesitation. I got the gluten free general tsao's chicken. It was delicious and I did not get glutened. Will definitely be returning here.
They can make nearly anything on the menu GF. Menu is clearly marked.

"CITY Best of Rochester winner multiple times. But not many people know the restaurant can make most of its menu items gluten-free if asked? Gluten-free Sesame Chicken is a rarity, and Chen Garden makes a tasty one. Other items to try are the Crispy Shrimp with Bacon and Chow Fun noodles."

You are at the mercy of your server. My daughter got very sick the last time we ate there.
I had not had general tsos chicken in YEARS!!! I read good and bad reviews for this place but was willing to chance it. They had most everything marked clearly on the menu. Gluten free is color coded. There online menus are too. Despite the bad reviews my meal was tasty. Ill be sad to end out trip and no longer be able to go to chens.
