Crazy busy lunch rush but the minute I told Carla I was celiac, everything stopped. They changed al the spoons, gloves etc to serve me. They did not care that there was a line out the door AND the crispy veggie tacos were to die for!! Love this place!!

Notes

Chipotle does not have a gluten free menu but instead has a list of gluten-containing ingredients to avoid. Cross-contamination is a concern, however, so let the person taking your order know that you are gluten free and if you need them to take the proper precautions.

From their website: "If you avoid gluten, don't eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field."

They couldn’t guarantee that the food would be safe because they touch the spoons to the tortillas and then put them back into the food. They also dump the bottom of the old trays into the new ones so I couldn’t even ask for just the new stuff. They said they didn’t have a separate area with newly prepped food.

All chipotle’s are great for celiac. You can get a bowl and all rice, beans, chicken, steak, and pork as well as all sauces, cheese and guacamole is gluten free. The only thing that has gluten is the tortillas for burritos and tacos but they are not made in the kitchen so there is no cross contamination. Also, if you say you have an allergy the workers are trained to change their gloves. I have eaten at chipotles all over the country and I have never gotten sick. It is a go to when you want to eat safely and need a chain restaurant.

Basically all of their food is gluten free, minus the tortillas (obviously), you can get a bowl but there is so much cross contamination that you can’t even eat there. If you’re gluten free (not celiac) you should be fine, but if you’re celiac like me DO NOT EAT THERE
