Always an amazing experience! Servers are well knowledgeable, kitchen takes GF seriously! The best fried bar food, dedicated fryers, and delicious food every time! Our go to for chicken tenders & cheese curds. Everything is labeled if gf or vegetarian, also has gf available tag for those items with bread/buns. Make sure to tell staff about intolerance or celiacs, but they’ve always been awesome

It was such a fun indulgence in “bar food”!
If you are gluten free, this place is like heaven. If you’re not gluten free, this place is like… heaven. I’ve never had chicken that compares to theirs. Yes I am gluten free and somehow it accommodates my needs but it’s also just delicious. The bar has a good GF beer and Schar bread is used for sandwiches, French toast etc and you can even get gf pancakes. For no upcharge!!! Even if I wasn’t needing to eat GF I would absolutely be a repeat customer. It’s a dream come true to have a restaurant like this!! Cool vibe and pool tables too! Lots of bands and events that go on and also really great staff and owner!!

I had an incredible lunch here. Almost the entire menu is GF or GF option available. The staff was so knowledgeable about safe preparations and explained everything clearly. I enjoyed a Nashville spicy shrimp Po Boy with fries and braised greens. My group shared the fried cheese curd appetizer. Everything was fantastic. This place is a gem.

Absolutely the best! Place has a terrific menu and the food is delicious. Desserts available gluten and dairy free too. It looks like a hole in the wall kind of bar but looks are deceiving. Old place with modern menu for gluten free awesomeness .

This is a must stop in Kent. My son has Celiac and we were always taking him to 5 Guys when we would go visit him. He enjoyed the GF Mac n cheese and chicken strips. :)

Stopped in to grab some late night desserts and we ended up grabbing key lime pie, chocolate pie and a maple pecan bar. They were all single servings and delicious. Erie Street is a very hip spot to hang out and grab a drink or for a fast dessert like tonight. The place was definitely busy tonight so the service was a little slower than normal but we got in and out still quick. Highly recommend Erie street for some delicious gluten free food.

Girlfriend is Celiac and insist multiple times throughout order that it needs to be made gluten free. We like the food however they do not label well and often our food we cna tell is gluten free but don’t know if the employees even know basically. Have had two instances of her being glutened, once from the waffles which were labeled gf and were not. Second time got our meal, my burger was labeled and made on gf bun, same as her chicken po boy, however the mac and cheese after calling as we thought it seemed too much like gluten and what do you know after calling it was def their wheat pasta. Service multiple times has been irritated when calling and being insistent to say many times it needs to be made gluten free as well. About 20 times going here and 2 times we have had gluten from order so be weary if you come here.

The food is delicious and almost everything breaded is already GF! There are also GF options for all sandwich items. Besides the GF part, they have some really good southern style food, and great sea food options as well. You should definitely stop in if you are in Kent someday.

Everything on menu except lobster bisque is GF. I had the Nashville Hot chicken tenders, pimento mac & cheese, coleslaw, and fried green tomatoes. My husband had fried perch and shrimp, fries, hush puppies and slaw. We both had strawberry cheesecake. I have celiac, he does not. He said NO DIFFERENCE if he had not known! Best fried chicken I've had since "pre celiac diagnosis days." We will definitely be back. The fryers are safe. They have both regular and gluten free bread. All the desserts are safe. It's worth the drive for us!

Gf food was great. I had shrimp po boy on a gf bun with tater tots. Gf bun was good. Ordered a gf beer, was not gf, beware. Good thing I caught it before I drank much. Grandson had gf fried chicken and fries, also very good.

Great dinner at Erie St Cafe. I had the crab cake appetizer and fries. The owners daughter was there and I told her I was gf and soy free. She told me tofu was fried in the dedicated fryer but I tried it anyway and did not get sick. The oil is canola oil. Many items on the menu for us. I highly recommend this restaurant in Kent Ohio.

Soo thrilled to have discovered this on our route to cedar point. So many great and rare GF options, especially the fried foods! Loved that every dessert option was GF too as that is another rarity. I could have cried after eating the fried mushrooms and fried green tomatoes. Delicious, high quality, and affordable. Thank you Erie St Kitchen!

Didn't try the buns this trip but many sandwich choices and gf dessert.brussel sprouts a little too brown but they replaced for me. Precautions taken with allergies versus preference. Server reassured twice she would mark receipt gf. Definitely a gem in Kent

We tried this restaurant on Saturday, following a recommendation from our Facebook Gluten Free 330 group page and were happy to know many items are GF. We ordered the Nashville hot chicken fingers, Mac n cheese and cole slaw. We will definitely try more items and return soon! I noticed they didn’t have any GF bread so I am going to try and change that lol! We will become regulars, I am sure! Lisa Picket Fences Bakery, LLC A dedicated GF home baker

Thanks so much. I’m glad you found us…Jeff
AMAZING!! Our waitress told us the owner’s wife has Celiac, which is why they offer so many gf options! Nearly everything on the menu is either gf or can be made gf (with separate fryers), with only a few exceptions. My 14 year old daughter with Celiac was thrilled! It was so hard for her to know what to order because everything looked delicious. We ended up getting chicken tenders, fried perch, cheese curds, fried green tomatoes, fried mushrooms, and fries and shared them all because it was all gf. Definitely not health food, but since she’s often stuck with a salad, we went all out! I highly recommend this place. Non-celiacs would never know things are gf. I wish there was one in our area (we were visiting family)!

I had the Nashville hot chicken tenders and hush pups. I have not been able to eat anything fried in so long, being able to come here and actually satisfy that craving without after effects is truly a blessing. The food was amazing! A little greasy but who can complain definitely going to be a regular spot!

I just about cried. Fried cheese!! Fried shrimp! Not grilled or broiled or steamed. Fried!!! As most of us know, it's usually a red letter day if we get fries with a meal. The fries were the least exciting thing. I teared up with the first cheese curd and say in happiness for the rest of the meal. Just go. If you have ever missed real fried chicken strips or appetizers or fish and chips, do yourself a favor and go.

So thrilled to have found this place! Almost everything on the menu is either gluten free or can be made gluten free including items you can’t find most places like their lobster roll (which melts in your mouth) and their hushpuppies. I tried the key lime pie as well and it was tasty too. There are so many more things I want to try. I can’t wait to go back.

The owner is very familiar with celiac disease and takes necessary measures to keep gluten free items separate from regular ones. The fried shrimp, fried fish, hushpuppies, etc. are all gluten free because they use rice flour in all of their breading. I can’t say enough good things about this place. It’s amazing.

Stopped here with a friend for dinner after a KSU basketball game. What a great meal. There’s a real southern comfort feel to the menu — not the easiest to do gluten free. But they do it! I’ve never been able to try chicken and waffles, but did today. Loved them! They had both GF and regular versions. In fact, they indicated they they can make GF versions of just about everything. My friend (who’s not GF) got a delicious fried green tomatoes appetizer, which is made gluten free standardly. Most of the desserts are GF, too. The menu is packed with southern delights — jambalaya, crab cakes, shrimp and grits and a bunch more! Staff was very attentive and fast. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is the bar atmosphere, which I actually found fun but others might not. You order at a designated counter and then they bring it to your table. So, it’s far from fancy, but really good food! Highly recommended.
Yes
All of the food can be made gluten free. Their chicken tenders are the best GF chicken tenders I’ve ever had. And their waffles are incredible.
Yes
Nearly the entire menu is GF. Jeff the chef came out and talked with me telling me the story of how the restaurant was started. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. There were four GF desserts!!!! I had the blacken catfish dinner (includes cole slaw, hushpuppies and french fries) and caramel cheesecake for dessert. It was great. So why only four stars? Well, as for the decor, it is the same as when I was last in the building in the 1980’s - and it was dated then. However, I will go back over and over again so long as the options, quality and service continues to be as stellar.
Yes
This was fabulous! Everything except the lobster bisque could be made GF...even the desserts. One of the employees told us thaf one of the owners has celiac. Felt 100% confident eating here!

Almost all choices were gluten free or could be made gluten free. There was a designated frier and almost everything was made with corn flour. All the food was absolutely delicious plus there were many great gluten free desserts. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful.

My husband has celiac and we eat here frequently. Love this place.

I had to ask if they had a dedicated fryer for gluten free and they did but you have to ask for it and you have to let them know you have Celiac disease. You also have to ask them to be careful and please no cross contamination. The food was pretty good and I loved the atmosphere. I wish the bar area carried more gluten free beer. They had one gluten free beer.
