I’ve had lovely experiences going to F&M for high tea in the past (and mentioning Celiac in my reservation), but when I flagged in my reservation this time that I had Celiac Disease and would need “made without gluten” tea service, they emailed me to say that the gluten free tea service is not safe for Celiacs and to ask how I’d like to proceed. The note included seemed more like a standard restaurant CYA than language that makes me concerned that they would be unable to keep me safe, but we canceled just in case.
The one star is not for service, quality of the tea, or kindness of the staff - they just no longer tout themselves as being able to safely serve Celiacs.

Emailed Fortnum and Mason to inquire about GF tea and was told it is not suitable for celiacs. Not the typical, we take every step but cannot guarantee cc won’t happen. We booked elsewhere but wanted to share this since it seems like a change from their past practices.

The GF afternoon tea experience is great (though very expensive - £80ish). Would recommend!

Stopped in for afternoon tea at the parlor in Fortnum & Mason having heard they did a GF scone. Waited I the queue about 10 minutes for a table, did wait some time before greeted by our server. At our table we had some delightful icecream and sorbets Sundaes, a couple americanos, and delicious gluten free scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. (They also offered GF bread for any of their sandwiches). Food was great, service was good (they were busy). I would definitely return again, even if just for few scones and coffee!!!

It was absolutely terrible. They forced us to pay for 4 afternoon teas even though my daughter wasn’t feeling well and didn’t eat. The gluten free afternoon tea was terrible. The cakes were hard as rocks. The sandwiches were falling apart. There is a mildew smell in the room and the fabric on the chairs is shredding. The service was extremely slow. It was terrible.

Lovely experience of a true afternoon tea. Prepared entirely gluten free and the staff even modified it to be vegetarian for me, as well. A great selection of sandwiches, scones, and desserts. Impeccable service, and well worth the price. Highly recommend!

Had an unforgettable high tea experience here as a celiac. Delicious food, not a hint of sickness, and obviously a lovely place with an incredible atmosphere. The place for celiacs to have high tea!!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea in the Diamond Jubilee Tea Room at Fortnum & Mason a few days before Christmas. They did an AMAZING job with the towers of treats-- from savory to scones to sweets... each person gets their own tea tower and the GF tower was not lacking. So beautiful that you absolutely do not feel like you're missing out on anything. The tower even comes out labeled GF, so no mistakes can happen. They also offer a DF tower!

Afternoon Tea is a bargain at £35. The GF tower was more beautiful than the regular one. Every bit delicious.
