I checked out Mirage as most Mediterranean food is naturally gluten-free. I asked the waiter, who brought out a chef, who ensured me that all the meats were gluten-free. I ordered the Kebab Kafta with rice instead of fries as there was no dedicated fried. I reminded the waiter that I have Celiac Disease and can't have gluten - so no pita.
To my surprise, my dish came with pita on top. I asked the waiter and he said that he thought that I could just give the pita to someone else... I said no, I have Celiac Disease and now my meal is cross-contaminated. The waiter said that he'll have the kitchen remake the dish for me. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Unfortunately, I didn't notice that the food was again contaminated until I finished. Hidden in my rice, I found pieces of pita. When a waitress came to clean up and ask how the meal was, I explained the situation. She apologized but didn't say anything about ensuring this doesn't happen again.
Unsurprisingly, I had symptoms after the meal.
