Staff are knowledgeable and thoughtful—just ask for their laminated GF menu. House salad is a dream (w/o the pecans), so are the veggie sides and the grits! Nice vibe at the bar, too.

I eat here regularly and the food is delicious. I usually order the salmon, with a side of the beets and goat cheese and another side, usually a green vegetable. I always ask them to put a gluten allergy flag on my order. Sometimes they bring my meal out with a muffin on top—the muffins are not gluten free. They always take it back to the kitchen and remake it, and I don’t get sick. They are apologetic about it too, and don’t make me feel bad for having to send my food back. But it would be better if that didn’t happen of course, and it often means my companions have finished eating by the time my safe meal arrives.
Their gluten free menu has the items containing gluten highlighted, not the gluten free items. They don’t have a dedicated fryer.

The salmon and rice was delicious! I have Celiac and very sensitive to cross contamination. The staff was knowledgeable and they had a menu that showed GF items. I had no reaction after.

Gluten free menu had gluten items highlighted, however some items that contained gluten weren’t highlighted. I ordered a cheddar for a cheese plate without thinking too much about it, since it wasn’t highlighted as containing gluten. However it was a porter cheddar that contained wheat. The waitress was very kind and offered another cheese free of charge as an apology. I would advise any celiacs or people intolerant to gluten check over their order closely just in case. Otherwise the food was good and I wasn’t glutened.

Separate menu with gluten items clearly marked. Pot-roast with wine reduction gravy and mashed potatoes was delicious. Server was a bit pushy.

Have to get the wait staff to walk through what’s GF but they have some good options. Had the trout!
Dedicated GF menu that is very dated and not accurate. Things like fries, gravies and other cross contaminated items are marked as gluten free. Food is incredible for people without dietary restrictions. Not the best for Celiacs.
We had lunch at the Public House on May 11, 2017. The staff seemed knowledgeable and spoke about the precautions they take when someone has a gluten allergy. We ordered lunch around 12:30pm. We finally got our lunch at 2:00pm after having the waiter check twice. Other customers that cam in after we did had already been served. When our lunch arrived, my wife's salad had a muffin on the plate. The waiter was apologetic and removed the salad. 5 minutes later, a new salad arrived. Within 30 minutes, my wife knew that she had been hit by gluten. She does not have celiac. However, her jaws begin to tighten and this results in a migraine headache. We were very hopeful that the Public House would be a great place to eat. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. If you have celiac or a gluten allergy, I would avoid the Public House.

Excellent restaurant! Lots of gluten and dairy free options!
I am so happy I chose this place for dinner. There is a GF menu online, and I ordered items that I knew would be safe. I wanted to try my husband's dinner (duck confit) and our server let us know that the duck was fine but the grits may be milled in a shared facility so to skip those. I usually don't order anything with flours or grains when eating out because of this. You may want to double-check some menu items because they may be GF, but there may be contamination issues that occur before the items arrive at the restaurant (I.e. grits/ground corn may not be certified GF... important for those of us with Celiac Disease). Service was on point. We are here for vacation, but I would go back again if we are in the area.
