I have eaten here for many years, and I never had heartburn. I always wondered why. Three years ago I learned I have celiac, and it now makes sense. This by far my favorite restaurant in Boulder. I don’t get heartburn or have inflammation (another celiac symptom). Even chili rellenos are GF. I eat here weekly. BTW, they have amazing margaritas, for those who can have alcoholic drinks. All of their sauces are GF. Just avoid flour tortillas, and it’s safe.

It was great! All sauces are gluten free so you can get almost everything! The queso is also gluten free and amazing! They can change almost everything to be gluten free.

Soooo tasty. Most things are GF. I had the deep-fried GF fish tacos 🤤🤤🤤 and chips and rice. The chips are made in a facility that has wheat but they are cooked in fresh oil that is not contaminated (and I think when they get to the restaurant they just heat them up). I did not get sick and I'm very sensitive! Oh they could not tell me if the Worcestershire sauce in the bloody Mary mix was GF so they advised me to not order it which was a bummer but okay.

Almost everything can be made or is GF! Just let them know you have an allergy!

I've always loved the rio but the last time I went, they couldn't make me just plain chicken (the marinade has soy sauce). They said they couldn't accommodate that request even though they had done it many times for me before. I won't be returning unfortunately

Been here a few times and never gotten sick (celiac and very sensitive). There's a good amount of options to choose from and the chips are truly gf, which is great! However, the food isn't the best. If I was just rating on food taste/quality it would be 3 but because they're good with celiac and have chips I can eat I gave them a 4.

Decent food. Been here many times with no celiac issues. Reviews of other locations say it's not celiac friendly so either I've been lucky or the Boulder one is better.

Avoid. At. All. Costs.
Got steak quesadilla and rice. Stated I had severe gluten allergy. Usual questions.
3 hours later and I have never been this sick before. Severe stomach cramps and severe intestinal distress.

Came on a Tuesday night, service wasn't that great...also food was pretty mid. Had high hopes based off all the good reviews. The chile con queso was probably the best thing we got, I got the chicken, steak, and barbacoa tacos. Couldn't even finish the barbacoa one because it was way too spicy. If you like spicy you might like it because the meat was good but the sauce was too much for me. Don't feel sick or anything but definitely won't be returning here.

new review — chips are all gf and made in a different dedicated gf facility. almost everything is gf again, yay!
(old review) New menu now, mostly the same as before but almost everything can be made gf. The chips for the nachos are not gf, but the chips and salsa set on the table are gf. Waiter was super knowledgeable and let me know that they do have a dedicated gf fryer ... I decided not to risk it and had chicken and steak tacos wrapped in lettuce. Very good!

Staff is knowledgeable and careful with allergens and cross contamination. The server told me that their breading is GF and their fryer is dedicated. All their sauces and salsas are GF as well. The dine-in menu is not marked but they have a GF menu on their website if you scroll to the bottom of the menu. Everything was delicious and service was great. Best of all, no issues afterwards!
