Symptomatic Celiac

Is the pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks safe for celiacs? I’m super sensitive and google was saying different things. What are my options ? Lemonade? Teas? Help! Thanks!

jbenik I would avoid. I’ve been sick several times from their flavored coffee drinks. It’s the syrups. Simple drinks there are better hot teas, basic coffee or lattes. Their soy and oat milk are gluten free and the soy is vanilla flavored so a soy latte is really good.

no_grain_no_pain Black coffee is all I’ll do there. Even the lattes can be contaminated because of the milk frother

Miah88 I am super symptomatic and I have the pumpkin spice all the time. Any of the flavourings are okay, Expresso, coffees, teas, refreshers. I find the only thing that makes me flare is anything oat, Java, or mocha

allieboballie Other than straight up coffee going there is a risk to me, a lot of their stuff has gluten and cross contamination

ashley48498 I order the PSL as it’s gluten free. You have to ask for double sanitization secondary to allergy. This helps cut down on the risk of cross contact. I also do not get the whip cream since it is likely to cause cross contact.

kelssers It’s gluten free, but you have it order no whip and tell them it’s an allergy.

roguenarwhal I have celiac and I personally drink them. I just order no whipped cream (my preference regardless of gluten). I am not the most sensitive, but also not the least, and I have never been “glutened” by Starbucks. The one I go to is very clean though, I’d expect that varies by store. Hope that helps!

puddingsins The latte is GF. The rest of SBUX… not so much. I stick to the rice crispy treats and black tea.

olivia_k I’d avoid it because some of their drinks are made in the same blender as others and some things from there have cc! your choice tho because if you want to ask them to clean it thourougly it might be ok!
