Five Guys

I was craving a good burger and fries. Five guys in Portland,ME really did a great job! I told them I was highly allergic/sensitive to gluten. I was so nervous about getting sick. the manager came over and assured me they would change their gloves and I'd be safe. I've waited to review them in case I got sick, but even a couple of hours later I still feel great. they recommended putting my burger in a bowl, so nothing would touch my food. one person was designated to put together my order (burger and fries) and they changed their gloves. it was a great experience. I would comfortably go back again!

Not a great experience. Asked if they had gluten free options and the girl stared at me weird and then said yeah they do. I asked if they could change gloves and keep food separate while preparing and they said yes but didn’t communicate it to the back people. They didn’t change gloves and they prepared the lettuce burger with a regular bun burger side by side. Didn’t feel confident in no cross contamination.

The usual celiac five guys experience. Staff is well trained and can do a lettuce wrapped bun. Fries in dedicated fryer. Obviosuly not as safe as a sit down restaurant especially if busy but I had no issues.

I love Five Guys! No, they don't have a GF bun but the burger in a lettuce wrap is so delicious that I don't miss the bun at all. They have a separate grill for the buns so the burgers will not have CC and as long as you let them know you have celiac or are intolerant they will change gloves and take precautions. They also have a dedicated fryer so the fries are safe too! Yummm!

Separate fryer for fries. Very careful when preparing a burger and putting it in a bowl. No GF buns. Tell them you have an allergy. They will change gloves. Eaten here many times and have not been glutened
