I eat here regularly. There is a tiny wheat symbol by items that aren’t gf. Everything else is. I also have no issues with my dairy allergy. I just eliminate cheese and sauces.

The service was great. Server answered my questions re: gluten and was honest when he didn't know. My husband ordered guacamole and the server brought me corn tortillas on his own so I could have some guacamole, too. He also adjusted my order to eliminate chips and brought us an extra order of corn tortillas to take home for my leftovers.
I had the tableside guac with corn tortillas and a tex-mex omelet with potatoes and refried beans. My only wish is that they had GF pancakes, but the omelet was really good and the guac was fantastic.

Always love Lupe Tortilla. Asked the manager about the Chips and he said for the most part they are fired separately but there are rare occasions where flour gets fried in them. For desserts. For Celiac he recommended no, which was fine. I just ordered some corn tortillas which are incredible and had those with Quac before the steak Fajitas. One of the few TEX MEX with so many options. Love love Lupe

I just LOVE Lupe Tortilla. They are so quick, great service, and knowledgeable about GF living. All of the menu is gluten free except for flour tortilla meals. Their brunch is only served on the weekend, but you definitely need to make sure to stop in! The puffy taco and cheese enchilada are my favorite items. Their queso and salsa is to die for & they have GOBS of adult drink options. It is a *little* pricey but it is worth every penny!

I had eaten here one other time before being diagnosed as celiac several years ago. I told the waiter I was celiac. He said everything on the menu was GFany dish with flour tortillas. I then asked if the chips were fried with anything that could cause cross-contamination. He told me they were not so they were safe to eat. I ate a few chips with the salsa and beans that came with them. I'm still a bit wary of eating out regardless of what a restaurant tells me so I played it safe and ordered something with a low chance of having flour...soup and salad. I did not get sick.
The service was great and the food was good, so I will definitely eat here again. BTW, instead of marking GF items on the menu, they mark gluten containing items since the menu is mostly GF.

Lupe Tortilla was AMAZING! Everything on the menu is gf except flour tortillas! The staff were super helpful and knowledgeable! You can eat enchiladas, fajitas, tacos and more. So many favorites you often can’t get elsewhere. And so flavorful! They make homemade corn tortillas which are fabulous!!

OUTSTANDING! This is THE BEST gluten free Tex-Amex I have ever had. The only things that are not GF in the whole restaurant are the flour tortillas, which are made in a separate location. At a lot of places, if you need your proteins GF, that means they leave off the marinade, which means you are served a fairly plain chicken or steak for your fajitas. I still enjoy that, BUT, I had forgotten how wonderful it is to enjoy a deliciously marinated Tex-Mex fajita platter.
Lupe Tortilla’s chicken fajitas are the best I have ever had. The refried beans are ridiculously delicious. Their home made corn tortillas are soft and pliable and just wonderful.
A must visit in San Antonio, Austin, wherever there is a Lupe Tortola!!

The corn tortillas are NOT gluten free according to the Nima sensor. The tortilla chips tested gluten free.
Best gluten free corn tortillas EVER!

A Mexican restaurant that understands about Celiac disease. Their menu is marked with the items that gluten cannot be removed. All other items do not contain gluten. They are very aware and it’s a safe place to go and not worry about getting ill!

I was excited reading another review that said Lupe's chips were cooked in a dedicated fryer and almost dove into the basket on our table. Thankfully I waited and the waitress confirmed NOT a dedicated fryer at this location. She did offer baked tortillas that would take 15-20 minutes.
I spoke with the manager before we were seated. The manager confirmed that most menu items don't contain any gluten ingredients. The wheat symbol notates the few menu items with gluten containing ingredients. HOWEVER, (a) their friers are shared, so all fried menu items, including the chips, are cross contaminated and therefore not safe for those with Celiac Disease, and (b) the corn tortillas are made in the same pans as the flour tortillas, so all menu items that include tortillas, e.g. fajitas, tacos, etc., are cross contaminated and therefore not safe for those with Celiac Disease. There is one exception for the tortilla rule the manager mentioned: the tortillas used for the enchiladas are premade corn tortillas from a bag, so the corn tortillas in the enchiladas should not be cross contaminated. The manager continued to advocate for me in the back of the house when they were prepping my food to avoid cross contamination.
Also, I just wasn't impressed with the taste of their food.

I am writing in the restaurant because I’m so frustrated. I have eaten here MANY times and been reassured by many employees that it was safe to eat fried foods. These include the ones marked on the menu as gluten free. There is no guarantee that these items are safe. The frier is “usually” chips but also could include an occasional item with gluten. I’ve not gotten sick before but as we know with celiac the reaction isn’t always immediate. Downright dangerous.

They had a dedicated fryer for chips. Waitress wasn’t sure but then went back and confirmed from the kitchen that did. Food was good. Didn’t get sick.
