Ordered the shrimp appetizer with no toast and asked for mashed potatoes instead. They said it would be an up charge, which is fine. I mentioned I was gluten free. The waiter came back to confirm, and I told him again that I was gluten free and specifically said no toast or bread. The shrimp came out plated directly on top of the bread. I gave the plate back and they asked me why I didn’t want it. They did offer to remake it, but I told them no because the whole place seemed a bit chaotic anyway.

Did my usual online research about the official gluten free ideas about gluten free then girded my loins to actually eat at this specific restaurant. I was delighted to get a paper copy of the "official" gluten free menu after asking for it but was a little worried because I had three different servers take my order and one of them brought out a platter of brown bread and butter. The manager on the floor did come to my table and reassure me that my allergy (yeah, not an allergy but experience taught me not to explain my condition is a disease) was being dealt with seriously. He made me feel safe food wise. However, the separate gluten free menu (as usual) didn't have prices on it and I ended up arguing about the bill. I ordered Alice Springs Chicken (YUM) with two sides. One of the sides was Tasmanian Chili and had a 3 dollar upcharge. Manager Dude removed the upcharge from my bill. Yay. But it kinda spoiled my experience.

Did a terrible job, had to send back order twice and still got sick
No
They were great about watching for cross contamination and brought my plate out separately from my family's. They didn't really have many menu options that weren't steak, but I ordered the grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, and side Ceasar salad. The food was really bland, and the mashed potatoes were worse than school lunches in the 80s. They were flavorless, almost translucent, and disappointing. The chicken was decent but not my favorite. I had better food at another steakhouse chain.

Outback as a chain has always been safe for me. I order the grilled chicken on the barbie with double veggies and have never had a reaction, including at this location!

I ate here twice while I was in town. They note the GF allergy for the kitchen and when they bring it to the table the server knew it was designated GF
