Many Original Pancake House locations offer gluten free pancakes. Please speak to your server about taking the proper precautions to prevent cross contamination, if necessary.
They have gluten sensitive pancakes. This is not shown on their website or menu, but the server showed me several types of pancakes that can be made with this batter. They also have omelet & egg selections.

Got sick from the veggie sausages and it was completely awful. Not gluten free friendly.
The gluten-free pancakes were solid and appreciated. They have fresh blueberry syrup also which was terrific.

OK here's my honest review going to the Original Pancake House with Celiac. They have several gluten free options, which is super cool. They can make any pancake gluten free, however, I have no idea what ingredients are in their add ons for pancakes and honestly I'm not sure the wait staff fully knows either. Due to that lack of confidence, I ordered plain GF pancakes. They tasted excellent and I highly recommend. The caveat is how sensitive are you and how willing are you to take a legit chance in potentially getting glutened? They do cook the pancakes on a separate griddle, but they use the same cooking utensil as regular pancakes, so the potential is there for cross contamination. I would avoid the waffles because they are cooked in the same waffle iron. I took a chance on the pancakes and I think I will be safe. I would stay away from ANY sides as they are cooked on the same griddled as the gluten foods. If I get glutened I am confident it is because I did not ask the right questions related to meat prep BEFORE I took a bite of the ham I ordered. So if you decide to roll the dice on this one and hope against hope because you just want to have a "normal" meal out with your family because celiac is HARD, I would recommend sticking with straight up GF plain pancakes. Hope that helps you all! Have a good day!

Was informed that gluten free pancakes and waffles were all I could have. With any flavors. I was told that they have a separate grill for gluten free and so far no reactions. And it was tasty!

I love the OPH and understand when going there that it’ll be a limited selection. My disappointment comes from them having many “Gluten Modified” options listed and state that these items are cooked on dedicated gluten free equipment.
I was so excited and ordered waffles. I clarified I was celiac gluten free with our server and she said “the food item itself is gluten free but cooked in the same waffle iron”. I pointed out it said it was cooked in a dedicated gluten free space” and she said that wasn’t true and there wasn’t any dedicated GF cooking areas. Be sure to check your location and what they do because the menu is a lie.

Cross contamination is a major risk here. My server told me they don't have time to wipe down the griddle or use a separate pan. Not his fault, but pretty big disappointment.

These are some of the best Belgian waffles! They’re so fluffy. I had to ask the server if it was really the gluten free waffle because it was so good. My not gluten free mom agreed they were good gf waffles. We will be back! *I am not sensitive to cross contamination so I cannot comment on that

Manager explained the location is gluten friendly - dedicated waffle machine - but not dedicated space. The server and manager were very knowledgeable and were able to accomodate my son’s allergy, cleaning the area, making the food separately. The food and service were outstanding. My son ate the gluten free waffle, eggs and bacon. It was the best breakfast he had in a long time.

People with celiac disease should be careful about eating here. I gave my server the usual spiel about being gluten free and avoiding cross-contamination. She didn’t really respond, but I thought I saw her mark down my order with “gf.”
When she brought me my waffles, I asked if they were gluten free. She said no and asked if I wanted gluten free ones. I said yes and asked if my eggs, bacon, and hash browns were gluten free. She said that these items couldn’t be made gluten free, which I found puzzling since they are naturally gluten free.
I asked for the manager, and he told me the eggs and bacon were gluten free, but hash browns were made on the same surface as French toast. I asked for a new order.
Ultimately, things turned out fine, but it was a close call. Also, the food didn’t taste great; they were leaning pretty hard on salt, oil, and sugar to make up for so-so ingredients.
I think you’d probably be fine ordering waffles and pancakes here, but you need to be careful and maybe talk to the manager first. The staff should be better trained on what it means when people ask for something gluten free.

I called before going here to ask if they cook their gluten free pancakes on a separate surface. I was told yes. But this either isn’t true or their staff isn’t informed.
(They have a new gluten free pancake batter, they can’t make gluten free crepes anymore)
Then when I got here, the waitress told me that the gluten free pancakes were cooked on the same surface. But that they “had someone with celiacs that eats them and they were fine!” I wasn’t comfortable with that.
She then said the eggs were gluten free but that their sausage links were coated in flour. But the sausage and eggs are cooked on the same surface.
They said they would clean the cooking surface for the gluten free pancakes, but it’s a griddle- it’s not like it can be thoroughly sanitised in a dishwasher.

I've ordered via app and eaten here on person a few times since my diagnosis and haven't had an issue. Their menu markings are a bit odd in that the main meal items that are already gluten free do not have the mark for "can be made gluten free" even though the sides are usually pancakes or toast. This makes options that are normally safe (bacon and eggs, Northwoods hash browns, corned beef hash) look like they aren't safe for some reason. GF food comes out on solid colored plates and the servers are great to work with.

This place is absolutely amazing! My husband has Celiac disease and I am dairy free. We both ordered the Georgia Pecan pancakes and a side of chicken sausage. It was fabulous! The coffee was as well!! Just like everyone else said, the allergy entrees come out on a red plate. It wasn’t cheap, BUT, quality food isn’t cheap. We both brought home enough for another meal. We can’t wait to go back!! Our server was friendly and helpful! Neither one of us got sick!!! Yay!!

Staff was knowledgeable and the manager came out to clarify our restrictions and explain what the kitchen could do. They really seemed to get it. I had an egg-white veggie omelet with side of gf pancakes. Enough for two meals! Did not get sick, nor did gf/df husband. One note for nf - they use peanut oil in many items but my daughter was able to find options and had no problems.

I may have just gotten lucky with the manager on shift, but I had a wonderful experience here! We noted on our reservation that I had Celiac. The host acknowledged this and briefly pointed out their GF options. When we got to the table, the manager immediately stopped by to let us know she was aware that I had celiac and confirmed the GF options noted on the menu and said all the meats were also GF. She told me they had a separate space on the griddle and were very cautious of cross contact which made me feel assured. And then even after that when our waiter came by, the manager grabbed him to reiterate that I had Celiac and she told him that when he put our order in, to let her know so she could make sure the kitchen was aware. I had the pecan pancakes and sausage on the side and they were both delicious!! The food also came out in a different colored plate. Besides GF pancakes, they had waffles, French toast, and crepes- all in multiple flavors!! This was one of the most attentive managers I’ve ever experienced at any restaurant and it was greatly appreciated. Oh- and they do not up-charge for gluten free which is unheard of in my experience!!

Gluten Free pancakes are not an option anymore. As of todays date August 4th, 2023, they have been out of the Gluten Free pancake mix for two months. They have a lot of other options, like omelets, though!
I also have a dairy allergy and my server was very knowledgeable about that and made sure my order was safe. Overall, a good establishment!

The food is great and they give huge portions! The staff was very knowledgeable and considerate with my requests. They can do gluten free pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon and ham. Sausages and toasts of any kind are off limits. They can also do some omelettes gluten free. They gave me a warning of the hash browns saying cross contamination may occur, but I didn’t react to it afterwards. Highly recommend!

We have eaten at OPH with success, but our latest visit caused my Celiac daughter to get sick afterward, despite all outward appearances of them doing all the right things. Just a reminder that unless an establishment is 100%, cross contamination can happen. Bummer.

They make gluten free pancakes that taste delicious and are light and fluffy. I usually get an omelette which has plenty of various options. It is hard for me to believe I haven’t had a reaction eating here, because it is a very busy, popular chain with gluten flying freely, I’m sure. But no issues to date.
