Celiac

Just 6 months since being diagnosed and I’m going up to London this week with my daughter to see a show. I’ve booked a meal after theatre, but can anyone recommend somewhere to grab a decent sandwich/cake lunch in central London? I find lunchtimes when out so stressful now - the spontaneity has gone of just finding a little cafe for lunch. Any suggestions greatly appreciated! Thanks😊

sona Expensive but I try and find an M&S for a good selection of GF sandwiches and snacks. 1 reply

miaomeow Every menu I encountered in London had clear allergy markers on menu items. I don’t know if it’s regulated there but it was amazing. Servers were also pretty cool and helpful. 2 replies

betty162529 Depends where you are in London. Utterwaffle, Libby’s are both dedicated GF, if on instagram, search GF London. A lot of the bloggers do London reviews. Borough market to wander around for fabulous meringues, Lola’s cake stands are often found in stations and pop up kiosks, see top shelf for amazing GF cakes. 1 reply

Frankie27598 Yup, I really miss spontaneity even though I was diagnosed almost 20 years ago! M&S cafes are good, they have jacket potatoes. I also like Pret A Manger, they usually have a few GF options. There are a couple on streets off Regent street, also near Piccadilly Circus and in Covent Garden. Good luck!

gina45282 Thanks everyone. I think there’s definitely a gap in the market for more places to provide GF savoury snacks/sandwiches for lunchtimes! Evening meals out are definitely easier!

tessa96829 I often get a salad from Pret. Also want to try M&S new gluten free toastie that’s now available in M&S cafes.

diane75573 I always eat a main meal at lunch if out because that is so much easier than sarnies. 1 reply

CanYouFeedMe I know it’s not a sandwich but you could share a pizza at pizza pilgrims - located in kingly street and dean street in soho

maryanne271260 Marks & Spencer have gluten free bread rolls to eat with bacon & eggs. Mozzarella, tomato & basil toasties, New Yorker sandwiches, prepackaged fruit scones, and iced buns
