DONT EAT HERE
Had a terrible experience, menu items are marked “gluten sensitive” however staff don’t know anything about the ingredients. I was advised to check the website for the Ingredients and they couldn’t tell me what was in it as to not assume liability for someone misreading the menu and having a reaction. Just generally would not go here and wouldn’t recommend to anyone who’s worried about cross contamination. They don’t seem to care when it comes to allergies

I have eaten here before but I wouldn't exactly call it a wise dining choice for someone with Celiac If they want to feel well afterwards. Proceed with caution.

They have gf options BUT I believe they are called gluten-sensitive. The waitress made sure to mention that to me before I ordered a they are not dedicated gf. She said she had to tell me for legal reasons. I got the fish and fries. I was cautious but didn't get sick thankfully. However, I also haven't been back since then bc I just didn't want the risk. Sick is miserable.

I have celiac and tried ordering off the menu of items that were listed Gluten Sensitive. I told the waitress that I have a celiac and to make sure my food wasn’t cross contaminated. I knew right after my meal that it was cross contaminated. Also I ordered a Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad and told the bartender that I have a gluten allergy so no croutons but gave me a bread stick. Like I was only able to eat half my salad since the other side had the bread stick

I tried ordering off the gluten sensitive menu and told the server I was allergic to gluten. I had symptoms exactly an hour after the meal. I may not have been clear enough with my needs, but I’m not sure I will risk it again.

Ordering was confusing. They had a menu that listed gluten sensitive options, but then told me the potatoes may not be safe. Had me substitute for another side, but then served me the potatoes anyway. I got the salmon, mashed potatoes, and beans. It was decent tasting and I didn't get sick. I found the online webpage for allergens was more reliable than the staff.

I made the mistake of assuming an item on the menu saying GS (gluten sensitive) would not have gluten. Strawberry salad said GS, but cane with gluten breadstick. The waitress got very defensive when I asked if it was gluten free. She said I never told her I was gluten free. Lesson learned. But, she dud not need to be nasty to me. My grandson got the breadstick.

I ordered the balsamic chicken and strawberry salad, marked gf on the menu. I asked the server to make sure she alerted the kitchen to prevent across cross contact. She gave me an attitude and said 'it's marked gf on the menu, isn't it?' Lo and behold, when it was served to me, a delicious, steamy, fresh baked bread stick was sitting on top of it. This was NOT mentioned on the menu, and after telling the server I needed to est gf, I was not happy nor did I feel safe. Also, being reminded of what I'm missing out on by having this breadstick waved under my nose was really not an uplifting experience. If you have Celiac like me I'd stay away from his place.

Went their with daughter who has celiac. Server was knowledgeable about celiac and brought out the manager to discuss our order. We opted for the Fiesta Lime chicken (without the tortilla strips). Meal was very tasty and no reaction to the meal. Would go there again.

Waiter was very abrupt and rude when we tried to ask about how GF foods were prepared, just kept saying where you see GS on the menu it will be Gluten sensitive but when I tried to explain that there needed to be a sense of comfort in how it's prepared for my celiac daughter he wasn't interested in putting my mind at ease. Lots available on the menu but didn't feel it was safe for my daughter based on the man's attitude towards questions. Wouldn't recommend based on this however lots of possibilities on the menu for it to be a great option of they would train their staff on sensitivity when it comes to Celiac disease.

We were looking for a quick bite to eat because it was late and we had limited options with our party. Only thing I think was safe for him was a burger without a bun. We did not stay because my celiac son wasn’t having it.
It’s what you’d expect with a chain. They had limited GF options. (They indicated items as “gluten-sensitive.”) I wouldn’t trust cross-contamination protocols.

I am gluten sensitive, and while I don't know exactly how much cross contamination I can tolerate, I did not notice any discomfort or inflammation after eating chips & queso as well as tortilla strips here. Their chips are fried, but I do not know if they are made in a separate fryer from the fried chicken items or not. I would encourage anyone with Celiac to double check on the fryer situation.

I initially ordered the beef nachos which said gluten sensitive marked on the menu. I told the waiter(Mike) I have celiac and he said the chips were not gluten free (I infer because they are in the same fries as breading). I asked about a salad and he said without the tortilla chips it would be ok. It was delicious and I also ordered a chocolate milkshake. They checked all the ingredients including the whip cream, being proactive which I appreciate tremendously. They were knowledgeable enough, but cared enough to double and triple check ingredients so I felt safe and did not get sick!

I love this place so much !! I usually get the Tex Mex Shrimp Bowl (ask to take out the tortilla strips, black bean corn salsa, with the chimichurri on the side in a container). I typically ask for things to be taken out like corn and dairy because i’m sensitive to most foods !! I usually get a strawberry lemonade to go with this but it’s your choice !!

I ate at Applebee's in Watertown for the second time in about a year and both times had a great experience. The staff in the kitchen were extremely careful and I did not get sick. Today, Nov. 18, '23, I had the fiesta chicken lime and it was absolutely incredible. They clean their fryers every night so you might get lucky and be able to have chicken wings or fries if one of their fryers has not been cross contaminated yet on the day of your visit. They're online menu specifies allergens better than their in-house menu and the manager came out and spoke to me and assured me they would do their best to avoid cross-contamination, they seemed quite knowledgable.

Super helpful and service minded staff. The manager came out and talked through what we could eat and the kitchen cleaned of the grill and surfaces where they handled our order. Good food and many GS (gluten sensitive) options. They say that they can’t assure total GF food but with clean areas the risk is very slim. We had grilled salmon and chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies.

Applebees has “Gluten Sensitive” items marked on the regular menu. I had the Fiesta Lime chicken as my main, with a Caesar salad, no croutons, as my starter. It was sooo good! Older location kind of hidden off the road.

Good restaurant chain. They substitute for gluten free bun on their burgers. Fries are not safe so I normally get mashed potatoes. They added a rice chicken bowl on their menu and that's what I normally order. They are pretty cautious about gluten allergy and a specific/different server comes out to bring just the gluten free order to avoid cross contamination, I suppose. Their cheesecake with no crumb base is delicious. I have never gotten contaminated going there.

I trusted Applebee's list of allergens and gluten containing foods. The list is common to all Applebee's restaurants in their chain. Went three times to this particular restaurants, and as I always do I ask about GF options in their menu. I have been given conflicting answers about their french fries. Last time the manager explained that the french fries "theoretically" do not contain gluten, but not being fried in a dedicated frier they are not gluten free. She was sincere. Unfortunately, I was pointed to their allegen list previously, and made.to notice that fries do not contain gluten. And I had fries. The top managers of the chain are then gravely and grossly misleading customers with their "allergens list", clearly totally ignorant of the damage their are doing.

I would give zero stars if I could because we didn’t even get past the hostess here. Before sitting down we asked for a menu for a quick glance and what was available for gf options. Was quickly and rudely told that there aren’t any gf options besides what was on the menu (listed as gluten sensitive) and when asked if anything could be made in a special area was quickly told no as well. Not helpful and not interested in even telling if they had a gf bun or pasta. Did not seem knowledgeable in celiac care at all.

Staff was sweet however the food labeled GS(gluten sensitive) is definitely not safe. They use the same fryer for all the foods?! I completely understand that there could potentially be cross contamination however I do not think menu items deserve the title as gluten sensitive when the fryer is shared with breaded items.

I would not go here if you are celiac. Wait staff had no idea on anything . They have mislabeled menus including French fry’s as gluten sensitive , cooked in a shared fryer ! Also wondering about the fresh made nachos , Fried ? Also on the gluten sensitive menu. We will not be back. When we showed him the fry’s, he said “ that’s out of my control” . đđž

Despite telling our waitress 3 times I was gluten free, she brought my salad with a breadstick. I told her I could not eat the salad as it was now contaminated. She said “can’t you just take it off?” When I explained that it doesn’t work that way, she got an attitude and put in another order for a second salad. When we got our tab, they charged me for both salads! They did remove the second charge only after I pointed it out. Will never eat here again as they are obviously ignorant to what a gluten allergy means. I know they can’t guarantee there will be no cross contamination but when you have a “GS” label by the meal I ordered and I told you 3 times I was gluten free, I did not expect that a breadstick would be on my plate. Avoid this restaurant!

I ordered 6oz steak with garlic mash potatoes with steamed greenbeans instead of broccoli. I was very impressed with my food especially my tender steak. My male waitress was very patient with me with my menu and was very helpful and notified the cooker of my Celiac and Microscopic colitis disease. I will definitely go back. This was on 2/24/23 around 3:00. So I hope his manager will see this. Thank you again. 5 đ for the place and waitress.

January 19, 2023. Ate dinner here with my wife and friends. I'm not crazy about their "Gluten Sensitive" menu, but I have eaten at other Applebee's in the past without issues. At the other Applebee's where I have had success, the staff has been very attentive to my gluten allergy. At this location, the staff could not have paid the allergy any less attention. I asked for the cooks to change gloves and use fresh serving utensils. I was told they were busy and short staffed. I ate the grilled chicken with garlic potatoes and steamed broccoli. I was sick before I left the restaurant. At this location, be very careful if you are sensitive to gluten exposure.

Had the steak, green beans and broccoli as we figured that would be the safest. Server essentially said everything was a risk. I asked for the manager and they did not come. After talking to the server, we did end up with the steak because of the least chance of cross contamination but I wouldn't have eaten here if I had it to do again.
